About the grassland biome
Grasslands cover roughly a quarter of Earth's land surface โ the African savanna, the North American prairie, the South American pampas, and the Eurasian steppe. This collection brings together the great migratory herds, the predators that follow them, the burrowing rodents, and the wildflowers and grasses that define the landscape.
Use for biome-study units, food-web exercises, and lessons on how fire, grazing, and climate keep grasslands from turning into forest.
Use the Grassland collection as the visual half of a biome unit. Print a sampler of 6โ10 species, lay them out on a table, and ask students what they share in common: body shape, color, behavior, diet. Then have students pick one species, color it carefully, and write a paragraph about how it survives in this habitat.
